As part of the European ERASMUS+ program, students at Osnabr¨¹ck University of Applied Sciences have the opportunity to study at one of the European partner universities of their degree program for a minimum of 2 months and a maximum of 12 months in each study phase (Bachelor, Master or PhD).

To apply for a place in the Erasmus+ program, please apply directly to the International Faculty Office (IFO) of your faculty or Institute of Music via the application portal Mobility Online. You will receive the access link from your International Faculty Office. You can find the contact persons on our Outgoing-Website under Kontakte International Faculty Office.

Applications can be submitted in the following period:

•     01.08.-15.09. for stays abroad in the following summer semester
•     01.02.-01.03. for stays abroad in the following winter semester.

You will find the application conditions there.

As soon as you have been selected for one of the places, the IFO will nominate you at the partner university. Please note that the nomination does not replace the application, but is purely a candidacy. Once you have been nominated, you will usually receive information from the host university about the application procedure and deadlines, as well as lecture courses, language courses and accommodation.

At the same time, your application will be forwarded by the IFO to the Center of International Mobility (CIM) and you will automatically be considered for Erasmus funding, i.e. you do not have to apply again!

Equal opportunities and inclusion are central to the Erasmus+ programme. For this reason, students with special needs have the opportunity to apply for additional funding for their stay abroad. The target groups are listed below:

Students with disability with a degree of disability (GdB) of 20 or more or students with a proven disability that results in additional financial needs can receive a grant as part of an Erasmus+ stay. A monthly lump sum of €250 per month can be applied for in addition to the mobility grant. A declaration of honour must be submitted as proof. This is made available to students via Mobility Online. With the declaration of honour, the recipient confirms that evidence is available (e.g. GdB certificate, notification from the state social welfare office, medical certificate). At the same time, the applicant agrees to provide this evidence at the request of the Osnabr¨¹ck University of Applied Sciences

Alternatively, an application for real costs can be submitted to the DAAD with the CIM at least 3 months before the start of the mobility. The real cost application must be approved by the NA DAAD before the programme is carried out. As a rule, up to 15,000 euros per semester and mobility or 30,000 euros per academic year and mobility can be applied for. The funding serves to finance additional costs incurred abroad as real costs due to the disability during the realisation of a mobility. Evidence such as a medical certificate must be submitted with the application. Financial support for an accompanying person may be possible. A real cost application can be submitted for preparatory trips. The funding serves to explore the local circumstances in preparation for a mobility programme that has already been approved. Financial support for an accompanying person is possible. A maximum of 15,000 euros can be granted per mobility.

Students travelling abroad with child(ren) can receive a lump sum of €250 per month via Erasmus+ in addition to the mobility grant if they take their child/children abroad with them:

?It is a minor biological child, adopted child or foster child and the child/children are taken along during the entire stay abroad

?The amount of the special funding is independent of the number of children

?Application is also possible if the partner is travelling with the child; double funding of the child is ruled out.

?If both parents are travelling with at least two children, both can receive the special funding*.

Please submit a declaration on your honour as proof. This will be made available to you via Mobility Online. With the declaration on honour, the sponsored person confirms that evidence is available (e.g. birth certificate, travel documents for the child). At the same time, the applicant agrees to provide this evidence at the request of the Osnabr¨¹ck University of Applied Sciences.

Alternatively, special funding can be applied for in the form of a real cost application. The funding is used to finance additional costs incurred abroad for the child/children during the mobility. As a rule, up to 15,000 euros per semester and mobility or 30,000 euros per academic year and mobility can be applied for. An application for real costs must be submitted with the CIM to the DAAD at least 3 months before the start of the mobility. The real cost application must be approved by the NA DAAD before the programme is carried out.

Students with chronic illness (chronic physical or mental illness) can receive a lump sum of €250 per month in addition to the mobility allowance if they have additional financial needs as a result.

According to the definition of the Federal Ministry of Health, a serious chronic illness is

" (...) According to this, anyone who can prove at least one visit to the doctor per quarter for the same illness for at least one year and also fulfils one of the following criteria is considered to be seriously chronically ill: either a need for care of care grade 3, 4 or 5 or a degree of disability or a reduction in earning capacity of at least 60%. In addition, anyone who requires continuous medical care without which, according to medical judgement, a life-threatening worsening of the illness, a reduction in life expectancy or a permanent impairment of the quality of life due to the health disorder caused by the illness is considered to be seriously chronically ill. Chronic diseases that require long-term treatment may include, for example, diabetes mellitus, asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease or coronary heart disease."

With the declaration on honour, the sponsored person confirms that evidence is available (e.g. medical certificate confirming that additional financial needs arise due to the existing chronic illness). At the same time, the applicant agrees to provide this evidence at the request of the Osnabr¨¹ck University of Applied Sciences.

Alternatively, an application for real costs can be submitted to the DAAD with the CIM at least 3 months before the start of the mobility. The real cost application must be approved by the NA DAAD before the programme is carried out. As a rule, up to 15,000 euros per semester and mobility or 30,000 euros per academic year and mobility can be applied for. The funding serves to cover additional costs incurred abroad as real costs due to the chronic illness during the mobility. Financial support for an accompanying person may be possible. An application for real costs for a preparatory trip can be submitted.

Students and graduates from a non-academic background, so-called first-time academics, can receive a lump sum of €250 per month via Erasmus+ in addition to the mobility grant if:

- both parents or carers do not have a degree from a university.

- A degree from a university of cooperative education that leads to a degree comparable to a university degree is to be counted as an academic degree. In cases of doubt, please refer to the Internet portal  Hochschulkompass or the webseite of the Foundation of Accreditation Council  for degree evaluation.

In this context, a master craftsman's certificate is not to be equated with an academic qualification.

- In case of doubt, the burden of proof that the parents' qualifications are not recognised as academic qualifications in the country in which they were obtained and that they are therefore entitled to the top-up amount lies with the student. This applies in particular to degrees obtained abroad.

- Degree courses completed abroad by one of the parents that are not recognised as such in Germany (e.g. physiotherapy) are deemed to be academic qualifications within the scope of the eligibility criteria for receiving additional funding, so that there is no entitlement to the top-up amount.

As proof, please submit a declaration on your honour. This will be made available to you via Mobility Online. With the declaration on honour, the sponsored person confirms that the requirements are met and that evidence is available (e.g. informal information on the parents' educational qualifications, declaration on honour by the parents). At the same time, the applicant agrees to provide this evidence at the request of the Osnabr¨¹ck University of Applied Sciences.

Employed Students can receive a lump sum of €250 per month via Erasmus+ in addition to the mobility grant. Please submit a declaration on your honour as proof. This will be made available to you via Mobility Online. The following requirements must be met:

• The job must have been carried out regularly and without interruption for at least six months between 1 February (or earlier) of the same year for the winter semester and 1 June (or earlier) of the previous year for the summer semester) and the date of departure.
• The monthly net income is above € 450 and below € 850 (net earnings from all jobs per month added together).
• The job is not done in a self-employed basis.
• Students on study programmes where a fixed salary is paid (e.g. dual study programmes) are excluded.
• The job in Germany is not continued during the stay abroad (this also includes mobile working, online working, paid holidays, etc.). Cancellation is not a prerequisite; the employment contract can also be paused.

With the declaration of honour, the sponsored person confirms that the requirements are met and that evidence is available (e.g. payslips, tax returns). At the same time, agreement is given to provide this evidence at the request of the Osnabr¨¹ck University of Applied Sciences.

If you fulfil the requirements for several special fundings (e.g. gainful employment plus first degree), only one special grant can be approved. Please take this into account in your application. Please contact the Centre for International Mobility (CiM) if you have any questions about applying for the Top Ups and, if applicable, a real costs application.

Please note: The financial top-ups for special funding for participation in a Blended Intensive Programme (BIP) amount to a one-off payment of 100 euros for a short-term stay of up to 14 days or a one-off payment of 150 euros for a short-term stay of between 15 and 30 days. In addition, students with special funding receive a one-off  travel allowance depending of distance if they take part in a BIP:

The distance is determined using EU-Distance-Calculator with a one-way basis.

With the declaration of honour, the sponsored students declare that they fulfil the admission requirements for the special funding and agree to provide evidence upon request by Osnabr¨¹ck University of Applied Sciences.

The Erasmus+ program includes the following services:

• Waiver of tuition fees at the host university
• Recognition of achievements abroad
• Monthly mobility allowance

Whether funding for the whole period of stay is possible for students going abroad for a semester in the winter semester 2025/2026 and summer semester 2026 depends on the funding approval of the National Erasmus Agency in the DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service). More details are expected to be known by the end of June 2025.

Since the 2024 project, the amount of monthly funding for student mobility has been divided into two funding installments:

Country group 1 - Countries with a higher cost of living (funding rate € 600/month; daily rate € 20)
Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Great Britain, Ireland, Iceland, Italy, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Austria, Sweden

Country group 2 - with medium cost of living (funding rate € 540/month; daily rate € 18)
Estonia, Greece, Latvia, Malta, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Czech Republic, Cyprus

Country group 3 - with low cost of living (funding rate € 540/month; daily rate € 18)
Bulgaria, Croatia, Hungary, Lithuania, North Macedonia, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Turkey

Equal opportunities are a central concern in the Erasmus+ program. This equal treatment of students with disabilities, students with children (abroad), students with chronic illnesses, students from non-academic households and working students as well as for sustainable travel is also a constant concern of the NA DAAD. In this cases, student can apply for what is called  "Top Up" (Special Funding).

With the Scholarship Calculator you can already calculate the approximate funding that you will get. Please bear in mind that the actual funding might differ due to the funding calculation based on the exact days spent abroad.

Another key concern in the Erasmus+ program is sustainability and climate protection. This is why there is funding for so-called ¡°green travel/green mobility¡±. ¡°Green mobility¡± refers to trips where low-emission means of transport such as bus, train or carpooling are used for the majority of the journey to and from the partner university. Trips by car, plane and ship are excluded.

Participants who need more time than the usual 2 days for arrival and departure due to the use of sustainable means of transport can receive up to 4 additional travel days as part of the individual support to cover accommodation costs for the travel time before and after the mobility.the daily rates depend on the country group. The country group declaration can be found under the menu item Erasmus+ Funding. Background information on funding for ¡°green travel¡± can be found on the website of the DAAD (in German).

In order to receive the lump sum, a declaration of honor must be signed and uploaded to Mobility Online. The form is available in Mobility Online.

An Erasmus+ mobility grant does not include insurance coverage. It is therefore mandatory for Erasmus+ participants to ensure that they have sufficient health, accident and liability insurance coverage for the duration of their stay, which also covers medical evacuation and repatriation.

Erasmus+ outgoing students must inform themselves about the requirements in the host country/at the host institution and inquire about their social insurance.

In addition to the degree certificate and the degree certificate, graduates of Osnabr¨¹ck University of Applied Sciences generally receive a Diploma Supplement in German and English in accordance with ¡ì 25 para. 4 ATPO. The Diploma Supplement describes details of the respective degree program and contains in Appendix 1 the Transcript of Records, which shows the modules to be completed according to the curriculum of the respective degree program. It also lists the credits earned abroad at the partner university that can be recognized towards the curriculum. The Diploma Supplement is part of the final documents for Bachelor's and Master's degree programs. The necessary information for the preparation of the Diploma Supplement can be found in the general examination regulations and the Guidelines for the recognition of study and examination achievements (in German).

Study and examination achievements acquired at a foreign university are recognized for the curriculum of the respective degree programme in accordance with ¡ì 11 para. 1 sentences 2 and 3 ATPO. The university observes national and international agreements, in particular the Convention on the Recognition of Qualifications concerning Higher Education in the European Region of April 11, 1997 (BGBl. 2007 II p. 712).

If a semester abroad of e.g. 25 or 30 credit points is planned for the respective degree program in accordance with the study regulations, the modules at the partner university are shown as credits for the semester abroad. This recognition is guaranteed in the ERASMUS program with the prior conclusion of a Learning Agreement.

If it is a voluntary stay abroad at a partner university, recognition is granted in accordance with ¡ì 11 Para. 1 S. 2 and 3 ATPO for modules of the curriculum of the respective degree program. This recognition is guaranteed in the ERASMUS program with the prior conclusion of a Learning Agreement.

The degree certificate will then also indicate that the relevant credits were earned at a partner university abroad.

Please note: If your achievements have not been recognized despite fulfilling your student participation obligations, the first point of contact in the event of difficulties or complaints is the direct contact person in the faculty. According to the Lisbon Convention , the university bears the burden of proof in the event of a rejection and must prove that there is a significant difference between the competences acquired and the competences to be acquired. If clarification is not possible despite efforts on both sides, the NA DAAD can be contacted.

The 2021-2027 program focuses on social inclusion, green and digital transformation and promoting the participation of young people in democratic life. Key action 131 mainly supports physical mobilities. However, it is also possible to carry out blended mobilities. The EU education program aims to achieve a high degree of flexibility in order to offer participation to all students. The program supports university staff in continuing their education or teaching in an international environment.

Erasmus+ funds guest lectureships at European partner universities, teaching stays for foreign company staff at German universities and further education and training measures for university staff at European universities and companies.

With the new Erasmus Generation 2021-2027, there is a new funding line for Blended Intensive Programs. These are short, intensive and joint mobility curricula and activities that offer students and university staff the opportunity to participate in a short physical group mobility combined with a virtual phase of undefined duration. The prerequisite for student mobility is the achievement of 3 ECTS. The minimum number of participants for a BIP is 15 mobile learners.

At least three ECHE universities from three different program countries are required for the conceptual development. Other universities or organizations from programme or partner countries can optionally participate in a BIP. The participation of participants from partner countries is not funded by the program.

University lecturers who would like to participate in a BIP at a European partner university with a group of students or who would like to carry out a BIP at the HS OS can contact the Erasmus-Hochschulkoordinatorin .
